The Original Eco Yoga Mat is composed exclusively of all-natural rubber and jute fiber. There are no man-made additives used to make this mat, as in many rubber yoga mats on the market. The Original Eco mat is the most earth-conscious and eco-friendly yoga mat option available today. It is excellent for any consistent practice of Yoga. Its rubber underside grips the floor and the jute fabric/rubber mix on top offers superb traction – even in a heavy sweat. It is a highly durable, tactile, and pleasantly natural surface to practice on. The mat combines a cloth surface and sticky mat in one and might remind you of walking barefoot on the earth.

4.5I own two of the Barefoot Yoga Original Eco Mats, one in Purple and one in Natural, for home and for the studio I teach at the most often.
This is a great mat that offers incredible traction, durability, and support. It is thick enough but not too thick. I feel balanced on this mat. I love the jute fiber, I do not find it “too rough.”
It does have that natural rubber smell, especially brand new, but it gets better over time and it doesn’t bother me that much. Also, with the natural mat, it gets dirty really easily and though I never thought my hands and/or feet were exceptionally dirty while practicing on this mat, I ended up with some awful stains where my hands and feet are in downdog.
One complaint about this mat is that it sheds like crazy. I always have to pick little pieces of rubber off of my clothing after seated/lying down positions.
Other than that, a good investment…
